If you've ever sat down next to a player you perceive as better than you, and proceed to play incredibly bad simply because you "just know" they're always going to be one step ahead of you, you're not alone.

CYG|ChrisT recently faced this when he threw down with FOX|Tokido at Combo Breaker 2018, and wound up playing incredibly timidly as a result. With its unforgiving nature, Street Fighter 5 is a terrifying game at times, especially when the stakes are high.

Chris took his problem, as well as a handful of other pertinent questions, to EVO 2014 champion Olivier "RB|Luffy" Hay during a recent GauntletTV interview.

The top tier French player had a few words of wisdom when it comes to playing the tournament setting he is now so used to, and offered some insight as to how players on his level think when both from within and without the game.

One such example comes in Luffy's examination of one of his sets with NuckleDu, one of the strongest Street Fighter 5 players to touch a control pad.

Luffy highlights Du's decision making (simultaneously paired with the match footage so you can see exactly what he's talking about) over the course of an intense tournament set. Something that can easily go by unnoticed winds up being a crucial factor in the determination of the outcome.
